The bad weather can cause a lot of issues for concrete garage owners across the country, as snow and rain can threaten to disrupt any organisation you had in place. Snow in particular means that you will need to be able to get access to all of your trusty winter equipment and gear on a daily basis. That means you may need to do some rearranging to ensure that your concrete garage is functional as storage space needs to be tidy but accessible.

Luckily, we have prepared the below top tips to help you keep your concrete garage organised this winter:

Start Planning

Before you start organising your garage, it’s important that you have a plan in place so you are able to assess the situation and create as much space as possible. First things first, you need to understand what storage space you need, and then design your garage interior around this to fit. That means if you need to store your ladders in your garage, then consider hanging them on walls to maximise floor space for snow shovels etc.

Keep floors clear

When you are organising and tidying any room in your home, there is one rule of thumb and that is to ensure that your floor space is kept as clear as possible. This is extremely important in your concrete garage, as it can prevent you from tripping over any equipment, and it avoids any of your items from getting wet of muddy. Generally, garages are used to store cars, winter equipment and even coats and boots, therefore, if it is snowing, raining or just all around muddy outside, you will be able to clear it up easily without it damaging anything else.

Use wall space

As we said above, wall space can be a great way to store more items and keep your garage looking extremely tidy. It not only keeps things off your concrete floor, but it leaves a lot more space for other equipment or vehicles that you may want to store there. Some good ideas of wall storage is a wall track system to hang garden equipment, hooks or deep shelving.

Get hanging

If your wall space has all been used up, you could even go to the extreme and use your garage ceiling for potential storage. Consider investing in overhead storage that can mount onto your ceiling for added room. This is a great place to store smaller objects that aren’t used regularly.

A garage wardrobe

A good place to store sports gear is a wardrobe which is perfect if you keep bicycles, gym equipment or even a motorbike in your concrete garage, as you will be able to get ready and out of the door quickly. Although they can be seen as bulky and take up a lot of room in your garage, it will allow you to stay extremely organised, and it will free room up in your home.

There’s not many people who enjoy cleaning and organising, but then again there isn’t many people who enjoy living in an untidy and dirty space. If you take one day out of your weekend and follow the above tips, we can ensure that your garage will be ready for the winter months and looking sparkling all season long.
