I received an email from PocketPCTechs with a helpful alert that several people have harmed their devices by using a Mini-USB charger that is not OEM:
Even though all Mini-USB plugs may look the same, they are not. Please make sure to use ONLY the OEM charger or one of our Lil Sync DUO Adapters, if compatible. For instance, using a Motorola Razr charger on an i-mate JasJam will damage the mainboard of the unit and be deemed an out of warranty repair.
I considered this to be an important enough notice to pass along to you.
While I haven’t purchased any chargers from PocketPCTechs, I have purchased other products of theirs and have always been pleased with them. They have an extraordinarily good reputation. Even if you are not in need of a new charger, you might want to check out some of their products (which range from screen protectors to memory upgrades). Regardless, their point about chargers is something to keep in mind if yours gets lost or you want to get a spare one for travel.
Have you had bad experiences from using a non-OEM charger for a device?
