The following MSNBC article has me fuming: GM boss to step down at White House request.
I generally try to avoid politics here, although I’ve discussed it a few times. But this article infuriated me, and I wanted to ensure that you were aware of it. Your views on it may be different than mine, and that is all well and good, because differing views are invaluable. My view is that the government saying who can and cannot run GM, or any other company, goes WAY beyond the proper functioning of government.
I don’t give a damn how smart Obama is. It’s not his job to run GM. Nor is it the job of any member of Congress, nor of the combined Congress.
Like everyone, I want our government to succeed in helping get the economy back in good standing. But it must play its proper role, just as we must play ours, and business must play its proper role.
Sorry for the rant, but this just pissed me off.
Amen Bruce.
I totally agree.
Examples like this are a great argument against a single-payer healthcare system. Do you want to open up the possibility that Bush or Obama or FutureUnknownPerson with no relevant experience could make sweeping decisions affecting everyone’s choices?
