I was listening this morning to GuitarVille, by Buster B. Jones and Thom Bresh, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thom Bresh is the son of the legendary Merle Travis, and is a legend in the making himself, and Buster B is also a legend in the making.
But, as I was enjoying the music, I thought back to a time when my late Dad was in the hospital (receiving another chemo treatment), and Thom gave Dad a call and talked with him for about 30 minutes. A simple thing for Thom to do (well, maybe not real simple, given his hectic schedule), but the impact it had on dad is something I will remember for the rest of my life and that I will be thankful to Thom for for the rest of my life. That phone call was one of the highlights of dad’s last few months on earth. He talked about it often, as he really admired Thom (and Buster), and was uplifted for weeks because of it.
Something to think about: sometimes things that are simple for you to do have a dramatic impact on people. Sometimes the only effort required on your part is to arrange your schedule to spend some time with someone who can value it more than you can know.
