So Glad the Endeavour Launched Well

This has nothing to do with the overall themes of this site, but I just want to share my pleasure that the Space Shuttle Endeavour launched successfully.

Like many of you, I recall all too well the tragedy of the Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster, and I am absolutely delighted that Challenger backup astronaut Barbara Morgan finally got into space. Bless her heart. It must be a huge excitement for her, some 21 years after the Challenger.

It is always good to see someone achieve their dreams, and I am tickled for Barbara that she has done so. It is hard to maintain your dreams as you get older, as I know all too well, and it always gives me a bit of a boost when someone not only maintains them, but finally makes them come true.

I was tickled to see this post in my Pulse. I, too, can never forget that day some 21 years ago, and am thrilled to see a teacher from that original program get to complete the dream. Nice break from all the social web stuff with something as far-reaching as getting up off the planet, into weightlessness, and a little bit closer to the stars…

Thanks for commenting, John. It is fascinating to think of how she must be feeling, not only from having the dream come true, but also from the unimaginable experience of actually being in space.

By the way, I am loving Plaxo’s new Pulse. You guys did a great job on it. I will likely post on it in a few days or a week or so, after I have had more time with it, but I am certainly enjoying it.
