Two major tech sites have gone to new designs today: jkontherun and Smartphone Thoughts. In both cases, I like their new designs much better than their previous ones.
Those of you who have read this blog for a while know that having a good site design is important to me. It is important because I want you to have a good reading experience here. I strive to provide worthwhile content, but that content will never catch your attention if the design turns you off. So I experiment with different designs. Probably too much. But, I am trying to have a site we can all like for its content and its ease of reading.
I have recently tried to install some polling software to enable me to get your opinions in a poll regarding site designs. Turns out the software is not compatible with the latest version of the blogging software that I use.
Hence, I have to ask you to let me know in the comments what you think of the design I am currently using on this site versus the design in use on my test site.
I would very much appreciate you letting me know your opinion in the comments. When you comment, tell me a little bit about why you like one design over the other (or whether you like them both the same, or whether you do not like either of them).
Thank you for your time and input.
Update: By the way, if you would like to tinker with the design of the header image (the image at the top of the page), just email me at brucekeener at gmail.com and I will send the Fireworks PNG file to you so you can edit it. I am not tickled with the color choice of the header, and am open to some creative touches from you if you are interested.
I much prefer the current design over the Cutline design used in the test site. The design in the test site isn’t all that easy on the eye, whilst this design immediately sucks you into the blog.
When I first loaded up the blog, I liked the design immediately (even before I’d seen this post) and I was immediately tempted to start reading the content.
When I first loaded up the test site, my immediate reaction was, “Oh no, it’s Cutline”, and I didn’t feel like I should start reading.
My vote goes with the current design, as it makes me want to read the blog as all good designs should.

Thank you very much for the input, Jamie. Just the kind of detailed comments I have been seeking.
