Lots of New Features in eWallet 6.1

If you go back to to my 3rd post, you would find that I talked about electronic wallets being the one app that I would consider a must-have. I also noted in that article that my favorite electronic wallet was eWallet, and it still is.

With eWallet on your Windows Mobile Smartphone, Pocket PC, or Palm PDA, you can have your important personal data with you at all times. Credit Card PIN numbers, Social Security numbers, insurance policy information, phone mail login data, online passwords, and on and on. All password-protected so you don’t have to worry about someone grabbing your data if you lose your PDA.

I think that when I first mentioned eWallet on this blog, it was at version 3.0, possibly 4.0. I can’t remember which version for sure, but either way: the fact that they are now at 6.1, in less than a year and a half, shows that Ilium Software is constantly improving their products. For example, the current release adds the following new features:

  • Personalize your cards by changing the field types: assign a type to any field in a card. Set multiple hidden fields, phone numbers, live email or web links, choose which fields to use with AutoPass – any type of data youwant!
  • Use shortcuts for quick access to your most important cards: create shortcuts to your cards and build a Favorites folder of your most-used info.
  • Customize cards with optional color gradients: choose the exact background style you want. Use gradients or solid colors, one of our free backgroundimages, or design your own.
  • Find cards fast with our all new search: the Find feature now gives you a list of all possible cards that match what you’re looking for.
  • Save time with easier template creation: making and editing your card templates is now better than ever.
  • Work faster with improved Smartphone card editing: Windows Mobile Standard (Smartphone) users can now enjoy easier card editing on their devices.

Pretty cool, eh? And they will soon be releasing a version for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Neat!

Anyway, if you do not have an electronic wallet, here’s a good one for you to check out. They give you a 30-day trial period, which is more than enough time to see what it can do for you.

    I first used Flexwallet years ago but changed to eWallet because I could click on the link in the wallet and have it automatically open a web page and enter the user name and password from the wallet. This is a great time saver. It also makes you really want to protect your wallet information from “those bad people” out there.

    I started with Flexwallet, too, Mike. Got a steal on it, for like $5. It’s a good program, too, but I just prefer eWallet. Others might prefer FW or CodeWallet.

    Great catch, Bruce! I can’t wait to see eWallet on the iPhone as well as on the BlackBerry. Hope they introduce a Mac desktop version soon as well. Have been using SplashID more because it’s available on all of my platforms, but really would love to use eWallet exclusively.

    I’m also looking forward to their eWallet Web Companion system coming out, which is in beta testing now. Also looking forward to seeing ListPro on the iPhone!

    I’m very impressed with the new features introduced in eWallet 6.1. Thanks again for letting us know about it.

    I’d be interested in checking out their iTouch version when it’s available. Currently, I’m using their portable version 5.02 on my thumb drive. Speaking of iTouch, seen any blogfodder hinting about what may be in store for the future of the device?

    @Thomas, Thanks.

    @Capo,
    Haven’t really seen anything yet. But at least Friday we should get to see what new apps we can load up on the iTouch.
