Links You Can Use, 19 August 2008

Links to several interesting blog articles are provided below.

  • Digital Nomad provides a very interesting video of advice from Marshall Goldsmith on flying. The video is only about 6 minutes long and is an excellent investment of time for those who fly a lot.
  • Chris Leckness of Mobility Site overviews the Palm Treo Pro. This sounds to me like one very neat Smartphone. Perhaps the phone that I liked the best was the Treo 700w I had a couple of years ago. It was memory anemic, but other than that it was wonderful. The Windows Mobile platform worked well on it, battery life was fantastic, and call quality was unsurpassed. Good to see Palm is still in the Treo business.
  • From the blog with the interesting name of My Mind Leaks comes a useful article on how to unclutter your Google Reader. It’s about time for me to do some more uncluttering, as I have close to 300 feeds, so this is an article that I will put to use. One thing I am uncertain of is whether Google Trends works with the mobile versions of Google Reader. I often skim through my feeds using my iPod Touch, and I suspect that Google Trends is oblivious to which stories I am paying attention to when using the Touch.

There a couple of things about the web that continue to amaze me. One is that there are so many blogs that provide good tips from everyday people like you and me. An example of this is a blog I never even heard of until last week, Marc and Angel Hack Life, which has a very well-done article on 20 questions you should ask yourself every Sunday.

Another thing that amazes me is how open blog writers often are. This is exemplified by Charity as she discusses ADD in an article entitled I have ADD: I am Not Retarded. Those who have ADD-like symptoms will find this to be an interesting read. Back to the point on openness: as I think back on the articles I have written on this blog, many of them have been very open about me, and the odd thing is that I am very private person. I guess there is a urge within all of us to reach out and try to help others learn from our own mistakes and shortcomings, even when talking about them is embarrassing.

One final link for the day. My friend Susan has mentioned that Rob Bushway (of GottaBeMobile) and family need your thoughts and prayers. The details of their situation with Maggie are discussed in Rob’s blog.

Thanks, maheshexp. I was thinking some javascript might not be present in the mobile version, which is formated very differently from that with Firefox, Safari, and IE. Good to know it works.

Thanks again. Really well-done article, BTW.
