I Just Joined Facebook Again

I was reading through my feed headlines (264 new headlines in the past 5 hours) and noticed a TechCrunch article about Google, Facebook, and Plaxo joining the DataPortability Workgroup. So, I decided to sign up again. I know a lot of you are on Facebook, and my signing up gives us another way to interact.

I’ve been pretty critical of Facebook in the past, primarily because of my concerns with data security. But, it seems to me like they are learning from their mistakes. I give credit to anyone who does that.

It may take me a while to get setup with a decent page on Facebook, but I will piddle with it over the next couple of days. Feel free to friend me on Facebook.

For you Facebook Pros, I would appreciate some recommendations regarding what applications I should install. I suppose iLike ought to be on the list, and I will look over the list of populars, but would appreciate some help from the experienced folk.

I’ll watch what you have to say about FB with interest. I have an account but haven’t figured out what value (if any) it offers me. Then again, I felt the same way about MySpace for quite some time too.

Hi Capo. I doubt that I’ll be able to say much about for a while as there is going to be a good bit of learning for me to do. I think the challenge with me will be to figure how to make it a useful social interface without cluttering it up with too much “stuff.” That is probably the challenge everyone has with it. So, again, I am hoping some folks can give us both some tips.

I mainly use Facebook to reconnect with past friends, but some of them use it much more. Basically, Facebook is yet another social network site I have to be a part of, besides Plaxo and LinkedIn. (Twitter would be in that list as well).

I am starting to refer to Facebook two or three times a day now, but still have much I need to do to really set it up right. Growing a friends network is slowly underway (thanks for friending me, Thomas), but I still have a long way to go to figure out what apps I want to use. I was amazed in watching the 60 Minutes interview of Zuckerberg tonight that there are now 60 million users and Kara expects 200 million by year’s end. That is phenomenal.
