I went to Barnes and Noble a little while ago to pick up a new Moleskine notebook. I have three, but they are practically full. I wanted a new, fresh one to use in rigorously working my way through Ferriss’ The 4 Hour Week Week book, which I discuss in this post.
While I was at B&N, I picked up a set of three small (3×5-ish) Moleskines to try out as a substitute for writing on 3×5 cards. I have a habit of jotting down blog ideas on 3×5 cards and they tend to pile up, while I digest whether I really want to do the posts or not. With these neat little books, I can keep all the ideas in one book, which has the advantage of giving me a history of my ideas as well (I toss the 3×5′s when I’ve done the posts written on them). Apparently these are relatively new to the Moleskine line, as I had not seen them before.
If you have not tried Moleskine notebooks before, you owe it to yourself to try them out. The writing experience is great, as the quality of paper is fabulous. The late, great C.S. Lewis wrote his A Grief Observed entirely using Moleskine notebooks.
There are now even Moleskine weekly planners and address books and so on. I haven’t tried any of these out, but I would suppose them to be of the top-notch quality and easy to use.
some people just can’t spend the extra cash to try one, me, i’m spoilt i can’t write in anything else!
I love them, too, ming and use one daily. I keep it right in front of me on my coffee table at home. I like the little ones, too, the pocket-size ones, which I guess are a relatively new release: great for carrying around with you to jot notes on.
