For the Guitarists

This is for music lovers, especially guitar music lovers.

One of my Twitter friends asked about a Chet tune that I did not remember hearing, so I did some searching on the internet. I found the tune being played by Chet and also found a rendition by Tommy Emmanuel. Tommy does the tune in a medley that I especially like though, so I thought I would share it with you. His medley of Chaplin in New Shoes and Windy and Warm is the YouTube video below.

What I especially like is his jazzed-up rendition of Windy and Warm, which is the first fingerstyle tune I ever learned. (I won’t tell you how many years ago that was.) It motivated me to get the Gretsch out and play Windy and Warm again myself, since I haven’t played it in a long while. It’s not very jazzed up, but it was kinda fun to play it again. So, here it is for you, and especially for you guitarmantoo Ray (guitarist and watercolor painter):

Note: The full collection of my free recordings is available at this link.

And, here’s Tommy Emmanuel:

Now, since I have posted 3 times today, I’ll probably layoff posting for a few days and maybe get caught up on some reading.

Enjoyed Windy and Warm. The walking bass was a nice touch. That was my moms favorite song. She always asked me to play it for her when I had my guitar out. Like that Gretsch Tommy is playing. I have a Tennessee Rose. Good playing guitar. Thanks for the links.

Hi Ray … Thanks much. And thank you for sending me one of your tunes. Very nice stuff. Great picking and a good clean sound.

I really need to change the strings on the Country Gentleman … they are the same ones that were on the guitar when I inherited it from Dad when he passed away 3 years ago. Of course I don’t play the Gretsch much, which helps with the strings I guess, but I really should.

    Thanks again.
