An iPhone/Touch App that Speeds Up Text Entry in E-Mail

If you want faster text entry within e-mails on your iPhone/Touch, TapIt4Me may be just what you need. This inexpensive app lets you create shortcuts that it expands into text. For example, you can set it up so that typing syl will expand into See you later.

Right now it only works within e-mail. If you want to reply to an email, then

click reply in Apple’s Mail app then press the home button and launch TapIt4Me. When your reply is ready, select Mail from the action menu: your reply will appear right where it should go in Apple’s Mail app ready for you to tap Send.

Simple, eh? I also tried composing an email with it, using a similar procedure. It worked, but it also copied my short test text into the Subject Heading as well as into the body of the text. I don’t know if that is a bug, or if I did something wrong.

Anyway, it’s very cool. And, if you use TextExpander on your iMac, like I do, you can import its shortcuts into TapIt4Me. The company’s website also says there is a Microsoft Word macro available to convert your Word autotext/autocorrect entries for use within TapIt4Me.

I wish it worked within Safari and other apps that have a text interface, but at least it works for email.

    thanks for reviewing TapIt4Me!

The insertion of the first 30 characters from the body into the subject line is a feature, not a bug.
However, I’m thinking of making it optional in TapIt4Me 1.1 or 1.2.

Version 1.1 now going out to testers will include the ability to send the typed text as a tweet to Twitter, straight from TapIt4Me.

    cheers,
Riccardo, developer of TapIt4Me, Ettore Software Ltd.

    Good application. It saves time!

Ricarrdo, Question: Do you have plans to extend this application to other application, like Calendar on Outlook (Microsoft) ?
When you need to set appointments or other things, where you have to repeat some phrases like ” Steering Committee Meeting at Headquarters “, it´s a pain ! TapIt4Me should solve this problem !
On a Palm device, the shortcuts application solves this problem very well. Why not have it for IPhone ?
Please let me know if you are plannig to include this on next release !
    Best regards,
    Edson
