A Few Changes That Need Your Testing

I’ve given the site what I think is a fresh new look, and one I’d like to stick with for a long, long while. It is still the same Thesis framework that has been my main design for almost a year, but I’ve changed the layout and color scheme a good bit.

The reworking has been inspired by things I’ve seen on TechCrunch, QuickSprout, The Huffington Post, and Amazon. I’ve tested it in Firefox and Safari on my iMac, and in Internet Explorer 7 on my Vista laptop, but have not tested with any other browsers. Please let me know if anything looks odd in your browser (sidebars dangling, for example). [I'm not sure I've properly done all the float clearings for the sidebar ads.]

I’ve also added the ability for commenting to be threaded. This uses the features built into WordPress 2.7 and Thesis. I may add a Facebook Connect feature later, but want to ensure there are no bugs in the current setup before adding anything else.

I look forward to your input to help me get any bugs worked out.

Since I’ve piled 3 posts on you today, I’ll probably take a few days to get caught up on some reading. Of course, I’ll be checking in for your comments and input.

Update: One other thing: I’ve added Paul Stamatiou’s Skribit module back to the sidebar so you can use it for suggesting topics to me. (Appears on the sidebar only on the Home page for now.)

    Hi Bruce,

I like the colour tones and layout. Using IE6 I have yet to come across any layout/formatting problems.

    Hi Rod,
Thank you for the feedback … I tried to choose colors that are alive without being distracting. And I am delighted that this layout works well on IE6 … I did not have a way of testing it, so I appreciate you telling me.

I hope all is well for you “across the pond.” I hear that the UK has now been stricken with the Swine Flu, and that the number of countries in the pandemic is growing. Take care!

Looks minty fresh. We see no glaring issues in Firefox or Chrome for Windows, and it’s nice and easy on our older eyes.

      “The Mules,”
I am honored to have a visit from Double Mules: thanks for the nice words and for the up-check on FF and Chrome on Windows! Beginning to sound like it’s working on every browser and platform.
      Thanks again.

    Thanks Bruce for your concerns.

I notice you use the word ‘pandemic’; over here we are still only referring to it as a possible future pandemic; so far we only have the two confirmed cases and they only exhibited mild symptoms. I do doubt they will be the only two cases though.

Hi Rod, You are right that I probably got carried away with the use of the term pandemic … I used the word more in the sense of how it has spread globally (more than 20 countries so far) than in with the number of cases involved. I think the actual definition requires both high numbers and global reach. Good point.
