How to be Evil
Rightly or not, Microsoft is often accused of being the Evil Empire. Some would use the fact that they seem intent on buying Yahoo!, whether Yahoo! wants it or not, as an example. (That’s just business, though. It may or may not be smart, but it is spreadsheet-driven.)
And, the mighty Google, despite its mantra to do no evil, is thought by some to be doing evil in its apparent “hijacking” of 404-error pages. I agree that, based on what little I know about this so far, I don’t like it. Update: Matt Cutts explains that the 404 Google Toolbar “intercept” only occurs for 404 pages that are less than 512 bytes in size (which actually makes it a sensible thing to have instead of an “evil” one, in my view).
Well, I am not a huge corporation, but I can be a stinker, too. ![]()
A friend of mine is in Green Bay this week where the temperature is 15 degrees F, with windchill expected to range from -5 to -15 degrees. Here is an email I sent to him this morning:
Just thought I’d let you know it’s 58 degrees here. And with the wind chill, it feels like, well, 58 degrees.
So, if you haven’t done your evil deed for the day, you now have an example to get your creative juices flowing.
