This week I have reduced the amount of time I have spent “in cyberspace” by about 80%. I did not start the week out with that being my plan: it just happened that I got burned out on cyberspacing, so I have not done a lot of it this week.
Oh, I have checked my Google Reader feeds every day, and have read somewhere between 1,000 and 2,000 headlines in it. But, as usual, the vast majority of those were worthless: out of all of those headlines, there have been less than 20 that I actually considered worth reading.
I have spent virtually no time tweaking my site’s design and reading post after post on how to build traffic, which are things I used to spend a lot of time on. After all, what’s the point? People either like what they read here or they don’t. And, I have never really followed through on most of the tips I have read anyway: when it comes down to it, I really don’t know how to be anybody but me.
The result: I feel pretty darned good. I’ve given myself more time to read books and to think and to just unwind. I will continue this reduced cyberspacing through next week, for sure, and perhaps beyond that. I needed the break from it and I am glad for taking it.
What about you?
