Techie Entertainment and Some Links

September 28, 2007

This is another of those weeks where, after reading hundreds of links, I have found only a couple worth mentioning:

  • Paul Stamatiou’s first impressions of Amazon mp3 beta. Paul has a great writeup on Amazon’s new, DRM-less music store. Definitely worth checking out.
  • Jack Cook of Mobility Site discusses Microsoft’s Internet TV Beta. I’ve been hoping internet TV would become in available in my area, as cable TV sucks and the number of tall trees around my house prevents me from using a dish network. The downside to MS’s Internet TV is that you have to use Vista to get it.

Shifting gears to a different topic, I have seen more and more people commenting that the popular technical blogs, the A-listers, are going to hell in a hand-basket. I have been noticing a decline in quality on some of those blogs for some time now. The ones that are going downhill quickest in my view are the ones that are focusing on quantity instead of quality.

But there are a few blogs that I have found to be consistently worth reading: Gear Diary, Paul Stamatiou, The Boy Genius Report, Chris Pirilio, and O’Reilly Radar. I may be missing a couple, so let me know it in the comments.

Have a good weekend, folks. Take care.

By the way, I will probably switch back to old design this week (Paul Stamatiou’s theme). It’s “more me” (I like its simplicity and readability).
