Life Advice from a Dying Professor

September 25, 2007

During my morning reading routine I came across an article that I felt compelled to share with you: Wall Street Journal Online has an article and interesting video excerpts from a speech made by a 46-year-old professor (Dr. Randy Pausch) who has as little as a few weeks left to live.

He has some points that I believe you will find interesting. His situation emphasizes what we have said here many times: life is short, and how you live it matters.

I don’t think a subscription is required for viewing this, but if you have trouble viewing it, please let me know.

This reminds me a bit of Tuesdays with Morrie, which is an excellent book. Having had both of my parents pass away way before when they should have, I can tell you that you definitely need to live life without regrets and don't try to save everything for the end… it's not worth it!

Great post. Thanks, Bruce.

Glad you liked it Thomas. This guy really impressed me. My father-in-law died of pancreatic cancer, and this fine young professor has a gruesome ending in store. His outlook toward it is inspiring.

Turns out, as much as I have read, I have still not read Tuesday’s with Morrie. Guess I’ll put it on my list. Thanks for the reminder.

After watching the WSJ teaser, I watched the entire presentation (all 10 parts!) on youtube. Interesting. Inspiring. He’s quite a guy.

Thanks for reminding me that I need to watch the entire thing. I will head over to watch it right now.
