A lot of things caught my attention this week. Here is a sampling that I believe will interest you as well:
- Meg Edwards, in David Allen’s Coaching Corner, gives some great tips for Managing Internal Distractions. I am not sure when she wrote it, but I came across it this week.
- Although the following post is actually from the preceding week, I went back and re-read it this week: Merlin Mann’s My War on Clutter: Never “organize” what you can discard. When I first read this post a week or so ago, I said “So what? If you’ve got clutter, throw it away … how hard can it be?” But, his post stayed in my mind (probably because of all the clutter I’ve let build up over the past several years). So, I read it again, and I like it. I appreciate Merlin calling this subject to my attention, and I am devoting some time this weekend to uncluttering.
And, of course I loved seeing the upturn in the US Markets on 2007.07.12, and here is a snapshot from the Wall Street Journal online at 3:00pm EST:

But, despite seeing this wonderful upturn, which continued to improve throughout Thursday and Friday, it is still hard to not think of the over 8 trillion dollars of debt the US has managed to ring up. Seems to me that too many politicians value their publicity over their responsibility.
Finally, the unimaginable immensity and the beauty of our universe continue to fascinate me no end. For example, this picture of the M96 Spiral Galaxy just astounds me when I think of how large the galaxy is, yet how tiny it is in comparison to the entire universe.

When you consider the vastness of the universe, its incredible age (say 13 billion years or so), and when you consider that our small planet might actually be the only one that has conscious life on it (debatable, but very possible), it serves as another reminder of how precious life is.

It sounds like we read the same blogs! I am also working on clutter, I am equally impressed with the universe, and I was also excited about the stock market (although specifically the performance of Apple).
I find myself reading a lot of your posts on my Blog MasterMind feed list. Keep it up!
Glenn,
Thank you immensely for the compliment. You are a gifted blogger and I take a compliment from you very seriously.
Thank you.
BTW, the Blog MasterMind program is turning out to be a good investment in my mind … I started out with doubts but I am learning a lot there, from folks like yourself, Yaro, Daniel, and many other fine people. Glad I got in before the price went up!
