JD Power Ratings of Wireless Carriers

I came across this JD Power Ratings page this morning (I saw a heads-up to it in skimming Engadet).

If you are considering another carrier, or just want to know where yours fits into the ratings, you will want to check it out. There are several categories of ratings, from call quality to customer service.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how well T-Mobile did in all of the categories, as I recently signed up with them when I got a T-Mobile Dash. It looks like Verizon is the overall winner.

My AT&T account is up for renewal in a couple of months. Based on its overall ratings, I may switch to Verizon for my “backup service,” or may just drop having a second service altogether. Either way would put me out of the running for an iPhone, which will only be sold at AT&T. However, now that I am semi-retired (just doing consulting), I really can’t justify being an early adopter anymore. And, maybe I am finally learning that he who dies with the most toys, dies.

Regardless of what I decide to do about future phones and carriers, the JD Power ratings are very useful and are worth considering if you want to know more about your carrier.
